A corrosion intelligence company built at the intersection of engineering and data.
Why Structivate exists
Structivate emerged from a specific observation made during seven years of doctoral research at TU Dublin: the gap between inspection-grade data and decision-grade intelligence on ageing reinforced concrete structures. Periodic inspections capture moments; corrosion progresses continuously; asset owners face decisions they can’t fully defend with the evidence base available.
The initial hypothesis was lifecycle-wide monitoring. Four years of asset-owner discovery, direct conversations with transport authorities, bridge engineers, and consulting firms, proved willingness to pay sits almost entirely at end-of-life. Structivate is now positioned exclusively around the end-of-life decision: repair, replace, or extend.
The 1960s and 1970s reinforced-concrete cohort is now reaching design-life threshold. Capital constraints across transport agency budgets are compounding with regulatory pressure for defensible decisions. Engineers need evidence, not just inspection reports, to defend the calls being made on these assets.
We measure resilience, not just decay.
The team

Dr Sean Bond
Founder
Dr Sean Bond is the Founder of Structivate, with a doctorate from TU Dublin’s Department of Civil and Structural Engineering. Four years of asset-owner discovery followed his PhD completion in 2022, with Enterprise Ireland Commercialisation Fund support arriving after the first two years to scale the work into a deployable system. Direct conversations with transport authorities, bridge engineers, and consulting firms refined the research into a specific decision- intelligence need, and turned that work into Structivate.

LinkedInBuilt on research, backed by Enterprise Ireland
Structivate’s technical foundations were developed at Technological University Dublin’s Department of Civil and Structural Engineering. The university’s commitment to applied research and infrastructure science provided the academic environment in which SM:ART’s underlying methodology was investigated, tested, and validated.
In 2024, Enterprise Ireland’s Commercialisation Fund Programme awarded support to take the research from doctoral work into a commercial system. The programme, which transforms academic research into market-ready solutions, provided the funded pathway for SM:ART to move into asset-owner trials. SM:ART operates under project CF-2024-2427-I.
Structivate continues to work closely with TU Dublin’s research community and the broader Enterprise Ireland ecosystem, with active research collaboration alongside commercial deployment.

Working at the edge of corrosion intelligence
Structivate is selecting candidate structures for FY26 SM:ART Trials. We work with asset owners considering end-of-life decisions, engineering consultants supporting those decisions, and partners interested in the broader corrosion-intelligence conversation.
